Production Manager

Job Summary

The Production Manager oversees daily plant operations, ensures strict product quality and food safety standards, manages a multi-shift workforce, and meets production targets efficiently while minimizing material waste and controlling operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Planning & Execution: Translate sales forecasts into master schedules, allocate resources to prevent bottlenecks, monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and coordinate inventory and changeover management.
• Food Safety, Quality Control & Compliance: Enforce global food safety standards (HACCP, SQF, BRC, or FSSC 22000), audit factory hygiene through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintain batch traceability, and minimize defects and waste.
• Team Leadership & Workforce Management: Manage shift rotations and staffing for multi-shift operations, execute staff training, set performance KPIs, resolve workplace conflicts, and drive succession planning.
• Maintenance & Engineering Coordination: Schedule preventative maintenance for industrial baking and packaging machinery, coordinate breakdown troubleshooting, assist with CapEx commissioning, and oversee facility sanitation and Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes.
• Cost Control & Process Optimization: Manage departmental budgets, apply Lean Manufacturing methods (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to eliminate waste, optimize energy consumption, and track yield and recipe efficiency.
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Conduct risk assessments, enforce 100% compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE), and investigate workplace incidents to implement swift safety revisions.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 3 years in a food production or industrial bakery leadership role.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Deep technical knowledge of automated baking lines, industrial mixing, continuous band ovens, and packaging systems.
• Strong leadership, sharp analytical problem-solving abilities, and high-level time management skills.
