Logistics Compliance Coordinator

Job Summary

On behalf of our clients we are looking for an experienced Logistics Compliance Coordinator to manage the company’s import, export, customs clearance, and international logistics operations. The role will ensure compliance with Ethiopian trade regulations, coordinate with government authorities, banks, suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams, and support the smooth flow of materials and finished products.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage import documentation, permits, customs clearance, and foreign purchase orders.
• Coordinate with overseas suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and local transporters.
• Track shipments and resolve port, customs, and transportation delays.
• Manage end-to-end export logistics, including bookings, documentation, customs procedures, and shipment tracking.
• Negotiate freight rates and identify opportunities to optimize logistics costs.
• Liaise with Ethiopian Customs, National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), ECX, and other relevant authorities.
• Ensure compliance with Ethiopian customs regulations, foreign trade laws, Incoterms, and company policies.
• Prepare and verify commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, L/C documents, certificates of origin, permits, and other trade documents.
• Follow up with banks regarding Letters of Credit (L/C), foreign currency allocation, and international payments.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and logistics service providers.
• Work closely with procurement, finance, sales, and manufacturing teams to support production and order fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate records for shipments, compliance, expenses, and audit purposes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in import/export logistics, customs clearance, trade compliance, and government liaison in Ethiopia.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian customs procedures, NBE regulations, Incoterms, L/Cs, and international shipping practices.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and logistics management tools.
• Ability to work effectively with government offices, banks, suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal departments.
