Education Project Coordinator

Job Summary

The Education Project Coordinator provides technical leadership, zonal management, and day-to-day coordination for education programming across target districts. Operating within the West Gojjam Zone, the role focuses on advancing safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive secondary education for adolescent girls in vulnerable and conflict-affected settings, overseeing implementation, stakeholder coordination, and capacity strengthening.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Implementation & Technical Leadership: Coordinate zonal education activities in alignment with project plans, budgets, donor guidelines, and ASDEPO operational standards.
• Safe Schools & Girls' Empowerment: Drive Safe Schools advocacy, risk mitigation, and initiatives promoting girls' participation, retention, mentorship, and re-enrolment.
• Protection & Gender Integration: Ensure robust mainstreaming of gender equality, child protection, GBV prevention, disability inclusion, and psychosocial well-being across all educational frameworks.
• Stakeholder Coordination & Training: Partner with Regional, Zonal, and Woreda Education Offices, facilitate capacity-building workshops, and establish functional referral pathways linking schools to community support services.
• Monitoring, Reporting & Learning: Conduct regular field monitoring visits, track activity quality, manage resource utilization, and document best practices and narrative progress reports.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Planning/Management, Psychology, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience coordinating education, child protection, gender, or community-based development programming in an NGO setting.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong project coordination, planning, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Familiarity with MEAL approaches, field data collection, and basic data analysis.
• Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong command of written and spoken English and the local working language.
