Assessment Officer

Purpose of the Role

The  Assessment Officer  will be responsbile for receiving & reviwing the completeness & accurcacy of shipping documents, prepare draft declaration, notify duty amount to client, receive CPO & register declaration, and compile & submit the customs fulfillment documents alomg with other supporting documents for further processing.

Key Responsibilities

Verify accuracy & completeness of shipping documents,

Ensure full compliance with local and international customs laws and proecdures,

Prepare & submit draft declaration for approval,

Notify approved duty & tax to client; follow-up & update new rate upon expiry of currency rate, and accordingly send revised duty and tax amount to client, if any

Register declaration,

Submit the compiled customs fulfillment documents to customer service team for further processing,

Maintain accurate digital records of all verified shipments and other supporting docuemnts on internal operation management system & Ethiopian Customs Management system.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:  BA Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Management, Business Management, or other fields,

Experience:   2–3 years of direct expereince in assessment role

Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of customs laws & procedures, HS codes, and incoterms,

Good ability to operate in Ethiopia’s customs trade portal system,

Strong problem Solving ability,

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English,

Good ability in forwarder’s operation management system,

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).,

High drive/self-motivation,

Exceptional attention to detail, and strong numeracy
