Social Enterprise Strategy Consultant

Job Summary

Responsible for designing a costed and actionable social enterprise strategy and leading its early implementation to strengthen YADAM Foundation's financial sustainability and diversify its income base. The consultant will assess institutional assets and market opportunities, shortlist priority concepts, design 3-year financial projections and business models, and operationalize at least one priority income-generating venture while building staff capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess YADAM's existing assets, capabilities, networks, and market opportunities relevant to social enterprise development.
• Identify and shortlist priority social enterprise concepts, conducting comprehensive feasibility and risk screenings for each.
• Design the complete Social Enterprise Strategy, including business models, governance, financial structuring, 3-year financial projections, and a risk matrix.
• Facilitate internal validation and secure approval from the Senior Management Team and the Board.
• Lead the operational set-up and piloting of at least one priority income-generating venture, establishing financial controls in coordination with Finance.
• Build the capacity of designated YADAM staff to sustain the enterprise beyond the consultancy period.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: Master's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Economics, Social Entrepreneurship, Development Studies, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 7 to 10 years of relevant experience designing and/or launching social enterprises, income-generating activities, or commercial ventures (prior experience advising NGOs in food systems or nutrition is strongly preferred).

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of business modeling, financial projections, costing/pricing for social-impact ventures, and familiarity with the Ethiopian non-profit regulatory environment.
• Proven track record of leading implementation alongside strategy design, supported by valid consultancy credentials.
