Purchase Manager

Job Summary

The Purchase Manager takes full ownership of agricultural commodity and raw material sourcing for Alema Koudijs Feed PLC in Bishoftu. Operating at the intersection of agricultural markets, production planning, and commercial performance, the role involves conducting market intelligence, building supplier networks, monitoring commodity price trends, and executing strategic purchasing decisions to protect both operational supply and profit margins.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Intelligence & Insight: Conduct research on agricultural commodities, raw materials, and by-products, monitoring seasonal patterns, harvest cycles, and price movements.
• Strategic Purchasing & Supply: Develop sourcing strategies aligned with production requirements, establish alternative supply channels, and collaborate closely with logistics, quality, and finance teams.
• Supplier & Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong networks with farmers, traders, and institutional stakeholders while negotiating competitive commercial terms, pricing, and quality standards.
• Planning & Budgeting: Contribute to annual purchasing budgets and forecasts, monitor performance against market benchmarks, and present key risk assessments to senior management.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, with strong preference for backgrounds in agriculture, animal feed, flour milling, grain trading, or agro-processing.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Deep understanding of Ethiopian agricultural commodity markets and domestic supply chains.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and commercial decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Excel, Power BI, and Outlook.
