GESI, Safeguarding & Disability Inclusion Specialist

Job Summary

The GESI, Safeguarding & Disability Inclusion Specialist (Short-Term Consultancy) will serve as part of a multidisciplinary consulting team to review, redesign, and validate competency-based entrepreneurship and financial literacy training materials, ensuring systematic integration of GESI, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Do-No-Harm principles for rural youth and vulnerable groups.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) across all training curricula, trainer guides, and learning materials.
• Ensure systematic integration of disability inclusion and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
• Mainstream safeguarding, Do-No-Harm, protection, and ethical participation standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assess and address participation barriers for rural women, persons with disabilities, young mothers, returnees, and IDPs.
• Provide expert guidance on reasonable accommodation, accessible training approaches, and low-literacy-friendly material adaptation.
• Participate in stakeholder consultations, focus-group discussions (FGDs), pilot testing, and validation workshops.
• Review learning products to eliminate gender stereotypes, bias, and unintended safeguarding risks.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Development, Development Studies, Disability Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, Psychology, Education, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Preferably 8–10 years or more of professional experience in GESI, safeguarding, disability inclusion, or related development initiatives (prior experience with donor-funded projects, UN agencies, or INGOs is an advantage).

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in mainstreaming GESI and accessibility principles into training manuals and capacity-building programs.
• Excellent analytical, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills in English.
• Familiarity with Ethiopia’s rural development context and local languages is highly desirable.
• Required Skill Tags: Communication, social sciences, education, social work, project management, counseling, health sciences, and nursing.
