Factory Civil Construction & Permitting Specialist

Job Summary

The Factory Civil Construction & Permitting Specialist oversees the construction, engineering execution, and official municipal establishment of the company's new manufacturing plant. The role acts as a critical bridge between on-site technical construction management and government regulatory processes, ensuring the facility is built to specification and fully compliant with Ethiopian laws and municipal codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Construction & Supervision: Manage and supervise daily factory civil construction activities, ensuring adherence to architectural designs, structural engineering standards, and project timelines.
• Governmental Permitting & Compliance: Lead end-to-end regulatory approval workflows, including securing building permits, land-use permissions, environmental clearances (EPA), and utility connections (power, water, waste management).
• Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary corporate representative communicating with local municipalities, regulatory bodies, engineering consultants, and construction sub-contractors.
• Inspections & Licensing: Coordinate and facilitate official site inspections with government officials to secure final operational certificates and industrial establishment licenses.
• Milestone & Risk Tracking: Monitor construction schedules, proactively identify technical or regulatory bottlenecks, and implement rapid corrective solutions.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience managing civil construction projects, specifically industrial plants, factories, or large-scale commercial warehouses within Ethiopia.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Comprehensive expertise in Ethiopian municipal construction regulations, permit procedures, and environmental compliance protocols.
• Proficiency in reading structural blueprints, managing project schedules, and overseeing site contractors.
• Excellent negotiation, liaison, and stakeholder management abilities in both Amharic and English.
• Required Skill Tags: Development-oriented, strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and best practices, soft ware engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, construction management, and related fields.
