3D Printing Technology Physical Rehabilitation Physiotherapist

The 3D Printing Technology Physical Rehabilitation Physiotherapist supports and implements physical and functional rehabilitation activities for targeted populations (persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups) within the HI project. Operating in the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia (based in Degahbour with frequent travel to Woredas, Zones, and Jigjiga), the role involves leading assessments for 3D printing P&O services, delivering clinical care, conducting pre- and post-fitting rehabilitation, and coordinating closely with technical project teams.

• Undertake physiotherapist assessments of potential beneficiaries in need of P&O services, suggest interventions, and plan treatments.
• Provide appropriate technical guidance and support to the Technical Project Manager for rehabilitation implementation.
• Ensure beneficiary security during sessions, taking into account medical constraints, precautions, and necessary medical consultations.
• Provide physiotherapy care in line with HI guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and multi-disciplinary team approaches.
• Complete session follow-up forms and ensure close tracking of individual and familial cases.
• Perform scanning for P&O beneficiaries using 3D printing technology and transmit digital data to the P&O technician.
• Identify beneficiary needs for assistive devices and splints, ensuring proper adaptation, maintenance instructions, and user guidance.
• Collect quantitative and qualitative technical data, contribute to regular reporting, user satisfaction evaluations, and post-distribution monitoring.
• Represent HI's technical expertise in local networks, health cluster meetings, and partner engagements.

• Educational Background: BSc degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university.
• Work Experience: At least 4 years of physical rehabilitation practice. Experience with digital design and 3D printing technology is an added advantage.

• Strong technical skills in prosthetics and orthotics.
• Strong communication, reporting, interpersonal, and intercultural skills.
• Good proficiency in English; knowledge and skill in the local language (Somali) is preferred.
• Proactive, hardworking, conscientious, resilient to stress, and capable of working under pressure with high flexibility and willingness to travel frequently to remote field areas (80% travel expected).
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and HI’s mandate.
• Core skills in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Community-Based Rehabilitation.
